Leg up and loop

by Bruce Wadd

Walking past the large electricity pylon was nothing new – they are on my daily walking track!  But as I looked up this particular day I noted something unique.  I had never noticed this particular device on the metal structure before.

The builders only wanted skilled climbers to scale up this power transporter, and so they had created a unique method of climbing.  It was a simple design, made of two parts.

Firstly, there was a pin for putting their foot on, for a leg up.  Underneath this horizontal step was a loop to hook a safety line onto per chance the electricity worker slipped.

How much like Jesus is that?  He is always about helping you up, but knows that you are capable of sin and may fall.  Thus, He has a safety device that will catch you.  It is His wonderfully mysterious love!

Here is a message of hope for those of us who slip occasionally…

“My little children, I am telling you this

so that you will stay away from sin.

But if you sin, there is someone to plead

for you before the Father.

His name is Jesus Christ, the one who is all that is good and who pleases God completely.”

1 John 2:1
