Latch on the inside

by Bruce Wadd

It’s a frustrating experiencing, but funny if you were watching!  Some time ago our spare bedroom was occupied by our ‘extra’ teenage son – he stays most weekends!  He loves his sleep, and so waking him in the morning is a necessary evil that someone has to perform.

One morning someone knocked on his door, calling his name and beckoning him to get up and face the day.  With a groan from underneath layers of blankets there was finally some movement.  Within a minute the waiting crowd heard this funny noise come from the door, only to realise that the door knob had come off - he was trapped!  He was at our mercy, calling for us to come to his rescue.

Let me put a twist on this event! Flip the door knob around.  In His love and wisdom, God has created us with doors on our hearts, with no latch on the outside.

When He knocks… when He beckons you to open the door to Him… to be open to His calling, He will never force His way in.  The latch is on the inside!  It’s up to you to let Him in!

“Look!  I have been standing at the door

and I am constantly knocking.  If anyone hears Me

calling him and opens the door, I will come in

and fellowship with him and he with Me.”

Revelation 3:20

TODAY, listen to God’s call… and open the door!
