Keep playing

by Bruce Wadd

Ever played a note on a keyboard?  Striking the white key means a single tone escapes into the air and arrives through your hearing into your consciousness… a lonely NOTE, clear and definite!

Then the keyboard player strikes a chord.  What a different phenomena!  So many different notes, that it is almost impossible to hear the individual tones, yet everything within that complete sound seems to fit well together.

That was just the introduction, because now the whole band is playing – the drums, guitar, bass, sax and keyboard!  Add to that a voice moving through it's complete vocal range, from low quiet depths to loud high-pitched screams.

The single note on the keyboard becomes an integral part of a finely woven tune. It just seems to flow magnificently, complementing the senses nicely, so that I can’t stop moving, tapping my feet to the music!

Is the single note still there? Is it still important?  It is probably more important now because the synergy of the many notes has led us to this beautiful rendition, completed by each individual strum, blow, pluck and strike of a single note.  It is the careful and skilful combination of the notes that brings the beauty!

You are part of God’s family - a single note in a very large symphony!  Keep playing because you add something unique no one else can!

“All of you together are the one body of Christ and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.”
1 Corinthians 12:27

TODAY, keep playing your notes!
