Just keep swimming

by Brandy Ferguson

Have you ever lost your toddler in a grocery store for just a few seconds, only to discover they were just a few feet away from you the whole time?  Those few seconds seem to almost freeze time, while all your thoughts go up in a whirlwind mixed with our worst fears.

For those that remember the Columbine High School shooting, recent events at Virginia Tech probably brought back some memories of that massacre.  For parents, this news makes us question what kind of world we are bringing our children into.

It just flat out scares us!  The unpredictability of it all, the lack of control we have over the ‘wheres’ and ‘whens’.

There is only one thing I’ve found to give me peace - Trusting God.  He made my kids and has plans for their lives, just like He does for yours.  All I can do is trust Him and know that He is ultimately in control.

Hang onto that peace, knowing He's got it all figured out.  Like Dori, from the movie, Finding Nemo, says, "...just keep swimming..."

“Trust in the Lord

with all your heart, and lean not

on your own understanding;

in all your ways,

acknowledge Him, and He will

make your paths straight."

Proverbs 3:5, 6
