Jelly on the fridge by Bruce Wadd
You’ve mixed up the ingredients, and the strong reddish maroon hues are now in the bowl, with some spray sneaking over the bench from your rapid beating. You’re making jelly! Once beaten you put the simple dessert in the fridge to let it set.
In what seems like eternity you return to the fridge, open the door, and in moments you are already slicing into the bouncy wobbly jelly. It is delicious. The soft slushy mass dissolving in your mouth, squelching between your teeth… mmmmm!!
You take your spoon, cut out a large chunk of jelly and put it on the fridge door, just to see if it will stay there? You’ve never done this before, but are fascinated to see what will happen.
Initially it looks like it’s going to stick, but it doesn’t take long before this luscious dessert starts sliding towards the floor. Rather than do anything about it, you watch it speed up, sliding downwards and ending up as a blob on your clean floor.
Why did you do that? Just because you wanted the illustration!
Trying to be saved is just like sticking jelly to a fridge… it’s impossible without Jesus! You end up crashing to the floor in a mess. Here’s some truth to remember…
“All that’s required is that you really believe
TODAY… remember, the jelly just won’t stick!!
