Jail 'n grace by
Ever stood in front of a jail? What thoughts and emotions rise to the surface when standing at the entrance? Imagine the solid stone surrounding the weathered timber doors with rusting iron bolts securing the premises. On top is razor sharp barbed wire and the security tower for easy viewing of the inmates.
All this is designed to intimidate the convict!
It is ridiculous to think of entering these walls to seek liberty, but let me build an alternative thought for you.
In our lives we live for freedom, and the last thing most of us want to do is promote voluntary confinement. But God's freedom is like being asked to step inside a prison. On the outside it looks depressing and extremely limiting, but what a surprise when you go through the door!
God says that if you really want to be free, give up your life - what a paradox!
It’s only as you move through the prison gate, with it closing firmly behind you, that you become aware of the blue sky above. Behind these constricting walls and overbearing doors is absolute freedom, beyond what you could have ever dreamed.
Could this really be true? Is a life of freedom possible for a Christian?
"You have been
given freedom; not freedom to do wrong, but freedom to love and serve each other "
TODAY, walk into the jail… accept God's free grace!
