I just wanted…

by Bruce Wadd

The young girl was speaking to her grandmother.  In fact, whilst I was sitting and sipping my McDonalds cappuccino, this eight-year-old granddaughter spoke to her matriarch three times in twenty minutes.

“Grandma, can I just have some…?” she asked.  Each time Nana reached into her purse pulled out some money and the expert sales-child plastered this victory grin on her face, knowing she’d got what she wanted.

The third time, though, had a different ending, with the child walking away disappointed.  No smile, but the forlorn look of rejection.

This scenario begs the question … when does the grandchild know better than the grandparent?

Let me take it one more step … when do we know better than God?

I just wonder whether this is one of the mysteries of God, designed for us to gradually discover as we live life in Him, and get to know Him!

“But blessed is the man who trusts

in the Lord and has made the Lord

his hope and confidence.  He is like

a tree planted along a riverbank,

with its roots reaching deep

into the water…”

Jeremiah 17:7,8a

TODAY!  May your riverbank luscious… in Him!
