I should have been

by Bruce Wadd

Prepared!  Yes, but walking along the bush track in the early morning light I was too interested in the scenery.  I didn’t see the cobweb!

But as I found out, it attached itself to my face, quickly covering it with sticky strands of web.

I stopped, turned around and walked backwards.  I did all sorts of weird actions trying to remove the annoying substance from my face and body, but it took time and patience.  It gave me a whole new appreciation of taking notice of what’s ahead.

We should be ready, but Satan’s attacks often get ‘stuck’ all over my face, like eggs smashed on the car window.  He will distract you in any way possible, catching you unawares often, particularly by the little things.

It’s His wisdom you need.  His Spirit continually walking alongside and inside you, watching and appreciating every step you take during your day.  Vigilant and prepared, a bit like soldiers on the battlefield!

“So use every piece of God’s armour

to resist the enemy whenever he attacks,

and when it is all over, you will be standing up.”

Ephesians 6:13
