Irreverence of thread by
On many of the jackets, shirts and trousers threads were noticeably hanging. It was obviously part of the latest fashion statement being made by fashion houses in Australia, and possibly the world.
I immediately pondered... What would my parents think? With almost irreverent regard, most seniors would die before being seen in such ‘worn’ clothing, despite how new it was! Everything of this aging generation was earned the ‘hard way’, and needed to be valued and appreciated.
Then I thought of the today’s teen buying and wearing these threads, knowing that they were ‘current’, ‘sick,’ ‘cool’, ‘in’. This age bracket looks at the older generation with misunderstanding and possible disdain because of other reasons - equity, gender imbalance, the ‘stolen generation’ and other ethical topics.
Both would find it hard to understand, let alone accept the other’s viewpoint, some saying how ‘wrong’ the others were.
But let me ask… are these issues to live and die by, or are they merely different ways of looking at the world?
I praise God that the Gospel is transcendent of age, it applies to all generations, all races across time and space. It has the power to change and unify all!
“This Good News makes us ready for heaven – makes us right in God’s sight – when we put our faith and trust in Christ to save us.” Romans 1:17
TODAY, God loves you, and wants to impact your life forever!
