Influence

by Elizabeth Price

Influence is a reality.  Nations are often identified by the name of a ruler.  Individuals can become so influenced they are identified by the one who influences them.

Influencing me is a little plush tiger who shares my space.  His short name is ‘TTW’ and he came into being long years ago.

‘TTW would not do that’ or ‘TTW would rather be quiet just now’ would get a major reaction.  ‘TTW has asked for an apple.  Would you like one, too?’ ensured that if TTW had good eating habits, children around him would also develop good eating habits.

As families grew and spread across the country, I was often called on to relate the latest TTW activity and I am convinced that the memory of me will forever be linked with TTW.  He so influenced my identity that for me to live is TTW!

Paul, the writer of Scripture, also had his identity influenced.  He became so identified with someone else that when you thought of Paul, you thought of the one whose influence identified him.

He said,

“...for me to live is Christ”  Philippians 1:21

Whose influence identifies you?
