Holding the veil

The celebrant said the appropriate words. The photographers were poised, fingers on the button, eye focused on this newly married couple. The wedding guests were sitting on the edges of their seat, waiting for that intimate touch of two lips.

Then as the groom was about to proceed, the bride held down the veil, and a loving embrace was offered instead.

Cameras flashed. A collective gasp rippled through the audience. Mouths dropped, mystified by the unusual display of affection. Questions rose in people’s minds. Why didn’t he lift the veil? Were problems surfacing in their relationship already?

Contemplate...

What’s the purpose of the bride lifting the veil?
Isn’t it something to do with commitment, about nothing being between two people?
Isn’t this supposed to be a public declaration of two becoming one?
Wouldn’t it say that you’re not really married?

How are you going in your relationship with Jesus? Is there a veil between you and Christ? Are you still holding it, stopping a relationship with Him?

“…as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,

so will your God rejoice over you.”

Isaiah 62:5b

TODAY, get ready for that intimate kiss! Let go the veil!
