Hit and cry

by Bruce Wadd

How many times have I seen infants, my own two included, stumble and hit their head? Then there is an extended pause before the screaming starts.

With people watching, the fall is no less painful, and usually happens before it can be stopped, but this morning I wanted to focus on the elongated gap between the impact and the cry. It often seems so long before the child begins crying, wondering whether there has been a serious injury!

I don’t know about you, but God regularly seems to lead me into long pauses in my life. This often leads me to wonder if He's still there? I read the scripture, but His presence doesn’t seem as real during these times.

Does His will or truth change during a pause? Share with me what you have found!

In between the ‘hit’ and the ‘cry’ are the times when I’ve discovered most about God, about myself, and life!

“When the way is rough your patience

has a chance to grow.”

James 1:3

TODAY, may the pause teach you much!
