Held by a hair

by Bruce Wadd

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Boys will be boys!”  Let me give you an example to prove it true yet again!

Growing up with an older brother meant he and I were always looking for new, fun and exciting ideas.  So one day, during March fly (larger than a normal house fly) season, we decided to try an experiment.

The first stage was to carefully sneak up behind several cows and remove a few long pieces of hair from their tails.  Then we would sit and wait to be attacked by a March fly.

Upon catching the insect we carefully attached the cow’s hair and then let the fly go.  With all its effort the fly whisked away thinking that it was free.  But for two boys it provided the best afternoon’s entertainment – seeing this fly going around in circles, held by a hair!

Have you had that ‘de-ja-vu’ experience? How often do you feel like you are going around in circles?

Christians are prone to stay focused on their sin or the challenges they are facing in their lives.  This often leads to a circular approach to life, returning to the same struggle yet again!

It is only when you are frustrated, tired and sick of living this way that God can do something.  The answer is really simple.  It is in looking to Him, letting Him cut the strings that attach you, that you can be released to fly with unfettered freedom.

Let go! Let God cut the strings!  Here is good news…

“But to us, Lord, be merciful, for we have waited for you. Be our strength each day and our salvation
in the time of trouble.”
Isaiah 33:2

Today, repent, and let God cut any strings!
