Half-baked cake by
Anyone who has baked cakes has had the experience. You thought you had put all the right ingredients together. You followed all the mixing and preparation directions, even to double checking the oven’s heat.
Then as you open the oven at the end of the baking period you notice something a little strange. Letting the cake cool for a short time, you can’t wait to cut a slice, only to discover that the cake is only half baked. Something has gone terribly wrong!
The Israelites suffered the same half-bake effect! They continued to persist in mixing their God-given ideas with those of the surrounding heathens, and therefore God had to spit them out, throw them away to captivity and destruction.
Are you half-baked about your relationship with God? Have you let things get in the way of your complete trust in Him? What evil ways is God prompting you to give to Him?
“My people mingle with the heathen, picking up their evil ways; thus they become as good-for-nothing as a half-baked cake!” Hosea 7:8
