‘H’

by Bruce Wadd

‘H’ can stand for many things.  If I am a Grade 1 student, ‘h’ stands for h-a-t, hat.  If I am a surveyor or developer, ‘h’ stands for hectare.  And if I am a fireman, ‘h’ stands for hydrant.

Lately when exercising every morning ‘h’ stands for ‘horrible hill’, and then ‘hooray’.  On the road near the top of this very steep street, which even cars struggle to climb, is painted a white capital “H”.  It signifies a water hydrant on the side of the road for any possible fire emergencies.

There is nothing better than to reach the exhilaration point. But for the morning walkers, like myself, this bright capital letter, ‘H’, predicts the end of the straining muscles and no breath – relief is in sight!

Likewise as a Christian, negative experiences don’t hide the Lord. Rather, they reveal Him, if you believe in Him.  There will be points where we need markers along the way, to remind us that the struggle is worth it.

Paul set a great example for us when he said…

“I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience His resurrection power, be a partner in His suffering, and go all the way with Him.”

Philippians 3:9 TM

Today, what does your ‘H’ stand for?
