Got sand?

by Brandy Ferguson

If you’ve ever walked on a beach and gotten sand in your shoes, you know firsthand the experience of its discomfort.  Even one single grain of sand can cause irritation.

The oyster is a type of shellfish that creates a beautiful, valuable commodity – pearls.  When a grain of sand gets inside the oyster’s shell, it experiences pain and irritation.

In response the oyster coats the grain of sand with a substance called nacre.  It takes many layers of this coating, and often many years - a three millimetre pearl takes about five years - to form.

But finally, out of its pain, the oyster produces something magnificent and beautiful!

Sometimes we don’t understand, even question our circumstances; all the while, God has a plan for our lives.

 Are you at a point of irritation?  Do you have pain in your life?  Annoyed with things?

“And we know that in all things

God works for the good of those who love Him,

who have been called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28 (NIV
)
