Fruit flies

by Brandy Ferguson

There is a little trick I have learned to trap fruit flies.  By placing a piece of fruit or some juice into a cup and covering the top with a sheet of plastic that has tiny holes, the bugs can get in, but they cannot get out.  In their attempt to go after what they most desire, they set themselves up for doom.

How many times do we set ourselves up for destruction, chasing after the things we think are best for us?  How often do we question God’s will for our lives when we don’t get our way?

“There is a way that seems right to a man,

but in the end it leads to death.”

Proverbs 16:25 (NIV)

Fortunately, God allows us to learn from our experiences and ultimately leads us back to freedom.

”For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
