Free to be

by Brandy Ferguson

The sound of the ball repeatedly hitting the floor began to get on my nerves.  "Stop bouncing the ball," I said.  Hayden quickly obeyed, but within a few minutes, was at it again.

I started to say something again, and then thought he was just being the kid God made him, playing with his new ball.  The ball was a gift he had just received, and he couldn't help seeing how high it could go.

I love how kids can so easily be themselves, uninhibited and free!

As I quieted myself and allowed my son to do just what he's supposed to do, a smile came across my face.

I wonder how much more God sees us that way and is glad when we are truly living our lives in freedom, doing what He's called us to do.   How much more does He smile when He gives us a gift - something to share - and we eagerly use it to see its potential in action?

Be free in who it is He's called you to be!

“Now the Lord is the Spirit,

and where the Spirit of the Lord is,

there is freedom.”

2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)
