Freebies aren’t always free

by Bruce Wadd

Recently an excited principal told me how his school had just been given quite a few older computers and laser printers for use in their classrooms.  He was overwhelmed with the generosity and future possibilities.

As we talked about the ‘prize’ in more detail this administrator realized that even though he hadn’t paid anything for this booty, there were significant responsibilities and costs associated if the gear was accepted.

His whole demeanour changed when he began to realize that the upkeep of these educational tools would blow his current meagre budget.  Free didn’t mean free!!

Does God’s gift mean the same?  Is the Gospel really free?  Is salvation offered, and once you accept the reality of its struggles become too overwhelming that you wish you had never accepted the gift?

Jesus died so that you could have salvation, and begin wonderful relationship with Him.  Praise God that your salvation is not hinging on performance and behaviour, but rather on God’s grace.

He died, so that you could live!!  All He asks is that you accept the offer!!

“For gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  John 3:16

TODAY, accept the offer Jesus has freely given!
