Follow through

by Bruce Wadd

Golfers are an intriguing breed of people.  I’m not one of them, lacking patience and consistency… and insanity! But I admire their persistence, hitting and then chasing this little white ball around beautifully landscaped courses.

The few times that I have suffered the game I have shown great expertise in what they call ‘hooking’ and ‘slicing’.

When golfers think about their swing, it is the complete action they are looking at – the preparation to the follow through.

Often, I have heard, the real essence of the shot is not revealed till the end of the swing. Everything may look fine up to when the club hits the ball, but where the club goes from then on reveals the true outcome.

How true is that of people that you have met during your life? It is in the fruit of their actions that you see revealed the intent of their heart.  And sometimes that can be opposite to what they have been saying.

Here is some wisdom, used by canny golfers and understanding Christians…

“Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person

is by the kind of fruit produced.”

Matthew 7:20
