Floating is best

by Bruce Wadd

Learning how to swim is a struggle for many people.  I remember watching an adult once, trying to swim and stay afloat.  He just couldn’t stay on the surface, despite his constant efforts.  He was destined to be a stone…a sinker!

Then along came a new swimming instructor, a teen, who understood float-challenged individuals, and she modelled a simple truth.  In a calm yet assuring voice the teacher stood next to this person and explained the simple reality about bodies in water.

“You first need to learn how to float.  And that,” she said, “is as simple as relaxing every part of your body, including your mind.”

So for the next half hour, the teacher and the student persisted at learning this simple yet essential skill in water survival. And eventually floating and swimming became easier!

Have you learnt the skill of floating?  Resting in God for everything in your life?

As humans we often struggle to learn this important truth.  We know it in theory, but the reality of living is often quite different. Remember…

“It is He who will supply all your needs from his riches in glory, because of what Christ Jesus has done for us.”
 Philippians 4:19

Float in Him today!
