Flapping in the breeze by
On one boat, the sail is taut, tightened adequately for the yacht to get its power and speed. The direction is clear. The speed means the bow cuts effortlessly through the water.
On the second boat, sitting in the middle of the bay, the ropes are lose and the sail is flapping loosely in the awakening breeze. Water is lapping at the sides, and the craft is merely drifting aimlessly.
As the wind rises, the second boat’s sails flap increasingly till it becomes an out-of control thrashing against the mast. The craft is being blown towards the rocks. Action needs to be taken soon or disaster is imminent for both boat and passengers.
Like yachts, our lives are a series of choices, filled with decisions, meaning the difference between flapping, directionless material and taut, powerful sails.
To have direction, to get moving… and live an exhilarating life, let God be in charge. Let Him tighten your sails and set the course, by following His wisdom, otherwise you will face an aimless road to ruin.
“Following after the Holy Spirit leads to life and peace, but following after the old nature leads to death…” Romans 8:6
TODAY, tighten up your life by following God’s truth!
