First time ever by
The task was simple – ripping up our existing lino floor covering and replacing it with an off-white tile. Sounds simple!
Tiling quotes came in well outside the budget, and my wife and I decided to do it ourselves.
“We should get it done in a day”, I naively thought.
‘Let’s go’, I thought. But my wise tutor counselled in a low tone, “Don’t get too far ahead of yourself! One cut and one tile at a time gives you the best results.”
I could feel the frustration rise inside, trying to control the desire to go ahead. But I let his wisdom temper my enthusiasm, and thus slipped into more methodical ways.
Am I glad I did? As I now stand on the end result, the visual pleasure of the journey’s end is worthwhile. I’m happy!
Life, like tiling, becomes a process of one day at a time. Following God becomes a much better way to live!

process started. With great enthusiasm I quickly got the idea of what needed
to be done. Measuring twice, cutting once; laying the tiles out before gluing.
