I’m feeling sad! by
Brittany arrived on the second day of my work with this class of six and seven year-olds. At news time she began, “The reason I have been away for a week is because last week my uncle had an argument with the family and went outside and killed himself.”
I sat there stunned by the lack of emotion showing on her face. The horrifying news continued!
At this point I wrapped up news time, quickly getting the children busy with their next activity. While they were occupied I beckoned Brittany to my side, gently opening the conversation about these horrendous facts she had shared earlier.
She responded honestly, yet naively, expressing her feelings. “I’m feeling sad!” she uttered, looking at me with pain-filled eyes. All she wanted was to unload some of the ‘yucky’ burden from inside!
Do you need to unload your pain? Are there people around you carrying burdens that need to be offloaded?
God understands and can listen. He’s also given you ears to listen to others as well. Do you care enough to take time?
“Come to me and I will give you rest – all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke.” Matthew 11:28
TODAY, take time to listen to someone’s heart!
