Father-son wrestling

by Bruce Wadd

Let me describe to you the experience of an evening on our rumpus room floor.  My son, who now is several centimetres taller than me, had decided that it was time to test his strength against mine in a wrestling match.

He considers that with height has come increased strength and intelligence.  This might be true, but wisdom needs to be linked with these attributes for ultimate effectiveness.

On the floor you quickly had these two body masses struggling against each other, endeavouring to pin the other’s back to the floor – which is considered a win!

Several times it was obvious who was stronger and wiser, but I chose to relinquish the title so that the ‘fun’ of the contest could continue for a time.  At no point was I going to totally command the situation because I didn’t want to spoil the intimacy of the moment!

I wonder how many times you have thought yourself wise or strong in God’s eyes.  I know that He constantly wants more for you, but only gives you as much as you can handle at the time.  Consider this,

“But I am with you; that is all you need.  My power shows up best in weak people.”  2 Corinthians 12:9

TODAY, celebrate your weakness in life’s wrestling matches!  Let God rise and conquer through you!
