Fair-dinkum, mate

by Bruce Wadd

Let me give you a practical lesson in Australian slang…

Aussies love people to be real, authentic, genuine – or as we would say, fair-dinkum! Craig has certainly qualified!

My first few experiences with this man have showed me someone that is rather casual. He gets on well with people, but I wondered how effective he was in the teaching environment.

The test came on sports day. With a multi-faceted event planned, and many details to be taken care of, he showed up on the day, well organised, unstressed, coping with the many variables that present themselves. He genuinely passed my test! He was fair-dinkum!

Are you a fair-dinkum Christian? Is what others see genuine and real? Or is it merely a weekly façade? Hiding the real you?

Look deep inside. Do you see any spark of faith, of belief in what God can do in your life? Because that’s the seed, believing that He can, that God is looking for! How fair dinkum are you about being a Christian?

“For if you have faith even as small as

a tiny mustard seed you could say to this mountain,

‘Move!’ and it would go far away.

Nothing would be impossible.”

Matthew 17:20

TODAY, be fair dinkum about God’s potential in your life!
