The empty tray

by Bruce Wadd

I have worshiped, laughed, cried and worked in the same church for more than ten years. In fact, both my wife and I are founding members of this unique congregation, but I write out of pain, deep in my heart, because of an empty tray.

In the office there are quite a few ‘in-trays’, mine included. But over the last many months that tray has remained empty. I have been trying to get it full of stuff, but this black plastic tray continues to be empty.

Finally, with great angst I have been to God with my pained request for a full in tray, and He, in His infinite yet gentle wisdom has said, “I’ve got other plans for you!”

The pain of letting go, of facing my insignificance, is too much sometimes. Facing the unknown is sometimes bewildering, but I am being challenged by God to move into my anointing!

I share this simple experience because I know many of you will empathize with the journey. I encourage you to be obedient to where God leads you, even if it means an empty tray for a time!

“The steps of good men are directed by the Lord.

He delights in each step they take.”

Psalm 37:23

TODAY, let your tray tell it’s message!
