Empty lane

by Bruce Wadd

What is it about turning left that’s so hard?  In Australia we drive on the left-hand side of the road.  [For all those who drive on the right-hand side of the road, it’s like turning right!]

At this particular intersection, onto a very busy arterial road, the transport authorities have built a traffic island to protect cars that are merging left onto the main road.  It provides them with a designated lane to move forward!

In effect, every car turning left really doesn’t have to check for traffic when they are merging – they can proceed ahead immediately.

The frustrating part, for a driver stuck in the ‘left turning’ traffic lane, is that cars continually stop and check for traffic before entering the busy three-lane road.  It just makes these car users feel safer, I'm sure, but irritates many drivers (me included)!

There are quite a cars, I have noticed, that even wait till all the traffic has gone, before proceeding.  They haven't even noticed the empty lane right in front of them!

What are you waiting for in life?  Is there something that’s stopping you from running ahead with God?  Listen to your heart, your dream … tell Him your hesitation, and let Him guide you forward ... and go for it!

Here’s how God instructed a nervous Joshua…

“Yes, be bold and strong!

Banish fear and doubt!

For remember, the Lord your God is

with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
