Drop-down menu

by Bruce Wadd

It frustrates me incredibly! When registering for something on the internet, I regularly notice sites defaulting to the United States.  Then I can’t add my four-digit postcode, because it requires a five-digit zip code… and the frustrating limitations continue!

I want to say my bit to web designers.  How can you naively think that the only world that exists is the USA?  As a frustrated internet user, I open the drop-down list and note a long list of countries.

[To all my USA readers and friends… and my sister, please read just a little further!]

There is a whole world out there with a huge variety of countries, cultures, religions, thinking… etc.  All are part of God’s creation, representing his huge character!  What a wonderful scope of diversity!

But for each of us, how easy is it to get caught up in our own world.  Is work, church, family, sport, business…stopping you from really connecting with others?

My encouragement to you today is this.  Stop and check the drop-down menu!  Oooops… it’s got other people in it!

Why not investigate their world?  Put a smile on your face.  Connect with someone new.  And take a moment to listen to their day.  It will bring you to a deeper love for others… and you’ll be much more able to serve!

Jesus set the example…

“So when Jesus came out of the wilderness,

a vast crowd was waiting for Him

and He pitied them and healed their sick.”

Matthew 14:14
