Dad

by Bruce Wadd

The Friday before Father’s day I was working with six and seven year old kids. For Show ‘n Tell there were lots of stories about the coming weekend and visiting Dad. The different faces showed excitement, smiles of expectation and hope.

There were the cards and carefully wrapped presents for their fathers. There were even tears of expectancy welling up inside, making me rather teary as well.

I couldn’t resist asking myself the question, how many of these innocent lives would be shattered again after a weekend where expectation would be dashed on the rocks of rejection!

Our innate desire is to have, love and follow a father. It’s a deeply God-given and eternal desire, I believe, which is never fully satisfied till we acknowledge our Heavenly Father.

Listen to your heart yearnings today. Are they craving a Father that you may never have had? Are there deep desires for acceptance and love still lacking?

He will provide. He will satisfy your deep inner need for love and direction.

Here’s what you need to do…

“But when you pray, go away by yourself, all alone, and shut the door behind you and pray to your Father secretly, and your Father, who knows your secrets, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6
