Commitment...pain…victory! By Bruce Wadd
I watched the grimaces on their faces. I heard the loud thuds as the bodies pummelled each other. I noted their tiredness as their battered bodies rose for another go!
The State of Origin rugby league match [between two rival Australian states - New South Wales and Queensland] was in full progress, and the mighty Maroons were the 'underdogs', facing a twelve game, ‘never-been-done-before’ hoodoo. They were playing at Aussie Stadium where they’d never won.
The game wasn’t pretty. It was tough and fast, with plenty of punishing blows but the passion and commitment driving this team from north of the border showed late in the second half.
With a four point lead they defended heroically, and eventually went on to victory, breaking an eight year hoodoo. They won!
You have the same destiny. Despite the self-sacrifice, the discomfort and the massive difficulties you will face as you follow Jesus; your story will eventually be one of victory.
Here’s the final siren commentary…
“They defeated him by the blood of the Lamb, and by their testimony; for they did not love their lives but laid them down for Him.” Revelation 12:11 Just remember… the victory celebration is close!
