Clipping my nails

by Bruce Wadd

I confess… I used to be a closet nail biter!  Without too much psychological testing being applied, as a piano player I have always been fussy about the state of my hands and nails – how clean and tidy they are!  Thus keeping nails trimmed was an essential exercise.

Well, there came a point in my life where I knew that the habit needed to be curbed and thus I purchased a fine pair of nail clippers.  Now I am in the habit of clipping every two or three days.

Just this morning as I was continuing the new habit I noted the minute difference between having nails that are too long, just right or too short.  There is less than a millimetre defining the difference – judged mainly on how it feels to the fingers.

Did you know that it is the same between truth and falsehood?  More often than not, the devil, who is the ‘father of all lies’, mixes 99% truth with 1% lie, making facts look so attractive, truth-filled and tempting.  But we need to be so aware of falsehood, checking everything against the truth of Jesus Christ.

Here is some truth… Let it sink to the deepest part of your being!

“When he (the devil) lies, it is perfectly normal;

for he is the father of liars…

You are truly my (Jesus) disciples

if you live as I tell you to, and you will know the truth,

and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:44b, 31, 32

TODAY, clip your nails carefully and confidently… in Christ!
