Clearer in the dark

by Bruce Wadd

The interview of the Great Escape was over. Finally, two miners who had been trapped for fourteen days one kilometre underground had told their story. Now the truth of their very, very lucky situation had been exposed to the world.

Their bravery, their focused discipline, their relationship despite its many differences, were all notable. But what caught my attention was something really simple that both uttered during the interview.

“We both became very focused,” they said, “because of the darkness.”

During your darkest times what gets your focus? In hindsight this often becomes your most valuable blessing.

“When they (God’s people) walk through the Valley of Weeping it will become a place of springs where pools of blessing and refreshment collect after rains.”

Psalms 84:6

TODAY, let the darkness become clear!
