Chewing gum fingers

by Bruce Wadd

My wife was driving, while I sat in the passenger’s seat. She got tired of chewing her gum and decided to get rid of it. It seemed a simple matter – take it out of the mouth, and throw it out the window, as she had done many times before.

But on this particular day, whether it was me sitting and watching or maybe faulty gum manufacture, but this chewy mass just wouldn’t release from her finger.

In moments the gum went from being a chewed round ball to sticky strings reaching from the gear stick, the steering wheel to the open window. What a mess!

The end result was me rolling around, laughing loudly at these funny antics. My wife finally stopped the car, and then painstakingly removed the sticky substance one string at a time.

I just wanted to remind you that love and compassion, like chewing gum, leaves lasting sticky bits of positive all over the place. Where have you left your traces today?

“You are the world’s seasoning, to make it tolerable…

You are the world’s light… for all to see…

So that they will praise your heavenly Father.”

Matthew 5:13-16 (parts)

TODAY, may your influence leave positives with those you touch!
