Brown to green overnight

by Bruce Wadd

Living in sub-tropical Brisbane (Australia) has its advantages.  But I want to focus on one of its challenges that turns into great beauty.

The dry season in this part of the world tends to be in the latter part of the year, and sometimes it even creeps into the new year.  This year we have had significant dry spells, and I can see my lawn crying out for moisture.

It seems almost irrelevant how much water is applied via the sprinkler and hose, the grass still looks far from the luscious green colour we come to expect in the tropical summer heat.

Just last week my front lawn was looking very dry, an embarrassment to my normally high gardening standards.  Then a typical evening tropical storm arrived with plenty of overnight rain.

Next afternoon, when I revisited my front lawn, a carpet of green shoots had sprung up to cover everything with a soft green carpet. This grass that had been brown and dormant, screaming out for precipitation, had transformed to a rich green overnight.

Apply this to humanity.  How many of your friends and neighbours are thirsting after something more in their lives, but they aren’t sure of what it is they are looking for?  Who can you add the water of life to their day?

“I will give to the thirsty the springs of the Water of

Life – as a gift!”  Revelation 21:6

TODAY, share God with them…and watch them change overnight!
