Blocked drain

by Bruce Wadd

Sunday mornings are usually fairly casual around my place, but not this particular one.  Upstairs my daughter flushed the toilet, and then proceeded to shower in preparation for her day at work.  Within minutes the bathroom floor started to cover with water.

Then the downstairs bathroom and laundry began to overflow with effluent of a suspicious colour.  It was time to call our friend, the plumber.  Shower and toilet usage, as well as washing, were off limits till the miracle man arrived.

Several hours later Laurie appeared, fully equipped with tools of the trade.  His first task was grabbing the sewer cam, inserting it down the suspect drain.  Upon finding a blockage, he began assembling a weird contraption called a root eater – apparently roots from a tree close to the drain had invaded the pipe and created a mass of growth because of the rich waste matter which in turn blocked the water’s escape.

Within half an hour the dubious roots had been disintegrated and the waste overflow had disappeared.  Everything was back to normal.

But some final instructions were given.  Because roots had invaded the drain it was strongly suggested that poison be regularly poured down the drain to kill any future growth and stop any potential blockage.

Let me apply that to your life.  There are times when we face blockages – things we find difficult to explain, and they seem to get in our way, till truth and light uncover the obstacle.  Let God do whatever He needs to do to rid your life of its blockages.  He makes a great plumber!

“End all wickedness, O Lord,

and bless all who truly worship God;

for you, the righteous God,

look deep within the hearts of men

and examine all their motives and their thoughts.”

Psalms 7:9

God makes a great plumber! TODAY, let Him loose on your blockages!
