Bellbird in suburbia

by Bruce Wadd

Mornings are a time of enlightenment for half the population, and I am one of those annoying positive people at this early hour.

The inspiration today came from something incredibly unexpected.  Living in suburbia, and walking every morning at dawn, means hearing bird life is a common occurrence. But this morning’s exercise delivered something quite unexpected – a bellbird singing its gorgeous melodies!

To have a rainforest-dwelling creature nestled somewhere amongst the houses was a real surprise – an amazing treat!  Normally found in thick rainforest, this bird had obviously found its way into a foreign area, but had now made a much more noticeable impact because of its unusual surroundings – and it was still singing its tune!

You don’t know how much impression you are making in your workplace, your family, your club etc.  Now that you are a Christian, your influence is being noticed because you are in ‘foreign’ territory - your witness is becoming increasingly significant!

“The Kingdom of Heaven can be compared

to a woman making bread.  She takes a measure of flour and mixes in the yeast until it permeates

every part of the dough.”

Matthew 13:33

TODAY, be a ‘bellbird in the suburbs’, and let Christ live through you!
