Aren’t thunderstorms wonderful?

by Bruce Wadd

Picture this…a young child woken by the loud booms of thunder outside.  His first reaction is absolute frozen fear and concern for personal safety.  Next, a call out for mum or dad, and by that time another flash of lightning and clap of thunder have occurred.

Time for action!  The child springs out of bed, once there is a slight break in the storm, and races into the parent’s bed.  No timidness in the step.  There is total focus on getting to safety.

The adrenalin-pumped child quickly slides under the blankets between mum and dad, and immediately gets warmth, cuddles, caresses and assurances of safety.  The parents understand what is going on for the child, and begin to rebuild peace, confidence and discernment in this young mind.

During the rest of the storm a lesson is taught to the child about love and security, the importance of family, the awesome power of nature…and the absolute love of God!!

So what happens next time a storm comes?  We see a young child fixed on the edge of the veranda, fascinated by the lightning, overawed by thunder, shuddering in appreciation of this powerful display of nature...yet standing securely hand-in-hand with a parent, ready to race inside if things get too close.

Do you need to jump in bed with the Lord more often when storms come in your life?  Or you may even be ready to stand on the veranda? Remember…

“He will never let me stumble, slip or fall.  For he is always watching, never sleeping.” Psalms 121:3,4

TODAY, bring on those thunderstorms!!
