An amazing sight

by Linda Stroud

I always generously sprinkle bird seed in my yard outside my kitchen window. I delight in watching the birds feasting while doing my dishes.

However, this morning was different to other mornings.  I began to notice many more birds than usual - quail, blue jays, chickadees, blackbirds, robins, grosbeaks, woodpeckers, doves, pigeons, and a few others I’m not familiar with.  Then the grey squirrels, ground squirrels, and chipmunks began to appear.

It was an amazing sight!

Then I realized, to more amazement, none of these creatures were arguing or being territorial.  They were all pecking or munching away, simply delighting in the morning sun and the delicious seed.  It was as if they knew there was enough for each of them.  It was a show of great tolerance and beauty!

The question arose, “Are we, as Christians, as tolerant or do we cling to selfishness and greed, especially in hidden areas of our life?”

This morning the Lord brought me a terrific lesson through His creatures!

Thanks God!

“O Lord, what a variety You have made!

And in wisdom You have made them all!

The earth is full of Your riches.”

Psalms 104:24
