All will be well

By Kenn Duke

“All will be well,” she muses amid the tears.  Shaking with pain, her body tells of the depth of her grief.  Surely she can’t believe her words?  Surely she can see that her situation demands reality beyond her expression?

Before her lies the companion of her life, her intimate friend.  Heart broken by thoughts that there could be anything beyond this moment.

Together we join in the sacred space by the hospital bed.  No words can repair the loss.

Comfort is found in being together as fellow human beings.  The lonely place between loss and making sense of what has been.

Times arise when nothing seems to make sense.  God offers comfort.  He seems to wrap us up in an embrace of His grace and peace.  Deep pain reaches out of this embrace and God is eager to offer what is needed.

“He is the source of every mercy

and the God who comforts us.  He comforts us

in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.

When others are troubled, we will be able to give them

the same comfort God has given us.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NLT)

God is in all, His comfort is yours!
