Allowed home

by Bruce Wadd

Australia has a reputation as a friendly place, with plenty of ‘G’day mate’, ‘howdy’ and ‘good on ya’s’ being passed around. But I cannot resist raising my deep concern for the increasing numbers of people – refugees – and how they are treated.

Refugees, often ‘normal people’ in their own country, are regularly forced out of their homeland through no fault of their own. They leave everything behind, often escaping for their lives, and head to another country.

With Australia as their destination, they face incredible difficulties before they are accepted here. We (our country) often jails them, almost like criminals… and slowly processes them for acceptance or rejection!

Without getting political, how do you treat other people? Particularly those that aren’t welcome? Do you open your arms and accept? Or reject?

Jesus seemed to set a clear example for his followers in how to treat others.

“And I, the Messiah, came to save the lost.”

Matthew 18:11

TODAY, allow people into your heart… your home!
