Aghast

by Bruce Wadd

It’s wintertime, and the ‘prior-to-work’ shower ritual had started.  Yesterday morning was just a little more notable.  Having adjusted the water pressure and temperature to the desired amount, I let the warm liquid bathe the many ‘goose-pimples’ on the large expanse of white skin… not a pretty sight!

Then I reached for the soap.  True to its reputation, the slippery mass of pink escaped to the floor with great ease.  Upon bending down my back accidentally touched the hot tap, twisting it to an off position.

Almost instantaneously there was a squeal from the shower cubicle – the water had suddenly gone cold!  I was aghast at how cold the water was!  My skin was immediately repulsed from the abrupt temperature change.  My left hand rapidly found and adjusted the hot tap, as the rest of my body attempted to avoid the spraying water as best as it could.

Jesus wants you to be sensitive and respond to sin in a similar fashion, repulsing from anything that threatens your relationship with Him.  He has planted inside you a truth far more impacting than cold water on a hot body.

“Sin need never again be your master, for now you are no longer tied to the law where sin enslaves you,

but you are free under God’s favour and mercy.”

Romans 6:14

TODAY, be aghast at anything that takes you away from freedom in Christ!
