Aftertaste by
Chocolate, for many of you, has rather seductive qualities. You may have gone days or weeks without the smooth rich pleasure of its taste in your mouth, but tonight you have purchased your favourite.
In a few moments there is a torn wrapper lying on the bench, and the first chunk is being chewed and absorbed by your excited taste buds – you are in heaven! With little resistance you consume several pieces before your conscience pricks you to stop.
With great restraint you sit and savour the delicacy of the moment - the sweet aroma in your nostrils; the smooth caress on your teeth and gums; the succulent taste pouring through your enlivened buds!
Only minutes later, though, you begin to notice, with some disappointment, the aftertaste – that rather awkward flavour lingering throughout your mouth! What an unfortunate end to a most sensual experience!
Having experienced God in your life, the great news is that you never ever have to experience a bad aftertaste. God in your life gets better and better everyday – I can confirm this ever after 29 years!
