She got to 8

by Bruce Wadd

In angry frustration she snapped the pen, loudly declaring, “I only got to eight!”  My sister just couldn’t concentrate anymore - not to even write her husband’s name.

My sister was attempting to write a congratulations card to a special friend, but she’d lost concentration with all the surrounding noise, ending up misspelling the name of her husband she’d been married to for twenty-one years!

In my family, it’s tradition when you get angry to cool down by counting to ten.  But I wonder sometimes … does God ever snap?  Does He count to ten and not get there?  Is He apt to losing His temper?

I wonder whether God made anger, and that there are positive ways to use it?  Why not consider this verse as you count … to ten!

“For a brief moment I abandoned you.

But with great compassion I will gather you.”

Isaiah 54:7

TODAY, 9… 10… 11… keep counting!
